With time, breasts may lose their perky appearance and skin elasticity. This happens as a result of pregnancy and breastfeeding, weight gain or loss, and aging.

Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, gives a woman firmer, perkier, more youthful-looking breasts. Your plastic surgeon will remove excess skin from your breasts, tightening tissue to support them with a natural contour. A breast lift will leave you feeling younger on the outside and more confident on the inside.

What are the Benefits?

At Polyclinic Plastic Surgery in Seattle, our board-certified plastic surgeons will apply their surgical artistry to give you the best possible results. After your breast lift, you can expect:

  • Firmer, perkier breasts
  • Improved body contour
  • A boost in self-confidence and body image
  • Natural-looking results

Who is the Ideal Candidate?

Typically, women with excessive breast sagging and nipples that fall below the breast crease are candidates for breast lift surgery. Physically, the ideal candidate is at a healthy weight, is a non-smoker, and has no significant health issues.  It’s also important to have realistic expectations for your results.

What Can I Expect from Recovery?

After your breast lift surgery, you will likely experience temporary swelling and discomfort. You will be sent home with pain medication, care instructions, and a compression garment to reduce fluid retention and swelling and support the breasts. Physical activity will be at a minimum for some days while you heal, and your plastic surgeon will continue to monitor your recovery for the weeks following your surgery.

Scars will depend on the type of breast lift your surgeon performed. All scars will fade over time and are easily hidden.

Breast augmentation patients planning to bear children often wonder if pregnancy will affect or even damage their implants. Swelling of the breasts during pregnancy is natural, as is the volume loss that occurs after breastfeeding. For some, these fluctuations are dramatic while for others they are subtle.

In either case, the breast implants are not damaged and their structure and integrity hold throughout this exciting and life-changing time. The breasts play a central role in the transformative biological process of giving birth and as they pass through the many phases involved, the implants themselves are not affected or compromised.
