Introducing QWO: the first FDA-approved injectable treatment for cellulite.

Despite a regular exercise regimen and healthy diet, cellulite is something that 90% of women can’t shake, regardless of their weight and healthy habits. What if you could get rid of yours in just a few painless treatments? Polyclinic Plastic Surgery can help! We are thrilled to be among the first practices in Seattle to offer QWO, the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment for moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women.

What is cellulite?

As women go through puberty there are hormonally-based changes in the way fat is organized.  Fibrous bands that anchor the skin to the muscle, called septae, pin down fat tissue, resulting in a dimpled “cottage cheese” look. It’s rare in men because their fibrous bands are oriented differently than females.

How does QWO work to treat it?

QWO represents a game-changing breakthrough in modern cosmetic science. By injecting directly into the dimples that create cellulite, QWO helps to break down the collagen-rich bands that pull on the skin’s surface, contributing to dimpling. It’s made from an enzyme called collagenase clostridium histolyticum that works underneath the skin to release the thickened collagen and fibrous strings that cause the appearance of cellulite. It also stimulates the growth of new collagen and redistributes fat cells for a smoother appearance.

What takes place during a QWO treatment?

The process for QWO is quick and easy with no downtime needed. First, one of our providers will determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. Next, we identify the areas to be treated and then inject directly into the targeted dimples using a small needle. The injections are relatively painless, with many patients describing them as “less uncomfortable than Botox.” No anesthesia or topical numbing cream is necessary.

How many treatments are required?

For optimal treatment, QWO requires a total of three sessions, spaced 21 days apart, and final results are achieved in 10 weeks. You can expect results to last a year with the potential to last up to five years. Because each person’s skin is unique results will vary. It’s important to have realistic expectations. QWO will significantly reduce the appearance of cellulite but won’t totally erase it. After completing your 3 treatments, your cellulite will be greatly reduced.

Who is a candidate for QWO treatment?

Any adult woman with cellulite on the buttocks is a perfect candidate for this revolutionary treatment, regardless of weight.

Are there any side effects?

As with all injectable treatments, there is a likelihood of some swelling and bruising at the injection site. You can expect any bruising to last up to two weeks so we suggest you plan your treatments accordingly. Other side effects may include itching, redness, discoloration, or a feeling of warmth in the treated area.
